Latam Link Building

A Brazilian ecommerce brand, referred from Portuguese publishers

The catalogue was Brazilian. The content programme was not. Spanish drafts and English buying guides were not earning links on the sites Brazilian shoppers read.

The brief

A Brazilian store with a Spanish content habit

The brand sold into Brazil. Category pages and buying guides were the URLs that needed to rank. The content team had been producing Spanish-language articles for a wider 'LATAM' programme and running them through translation for .br. Brazilian editors treated those pieces as imports. The few links that did go live sat on thin blogs, not on the consumer and trade publishers that actually send shoppers.

Paid social was carrying demand. Organic Brazilian queries for category terms were not. Competitors with Portuguese-language publisher citations were occupying the page-one positions the merchandising team wanted. The brief was not 'more links in Latin America'. It was Brazilian Portuguese, on Brazilian publishers, next to products a Brazilian shopper would recognise.

The work

Portuguese from the first draft, not the last

Brazil was staffed as its own language line. The sample list we sent within 24 hours was Brazilian domains only: consumer titles, retail trade press, and how-to publishers whose archives already covered the categories in the catalogue. Metric floors were set for that file, not copied from a Mexican campaign. The client approved a pool before a sentence was written.

Native Portuguese copywriters wrote every article. Product names, sizes, payment methods, and shipping examples were Brazilian. We did not recycle a Spanish guide and change the currency symbol. Live URLs were logged in the shared sheet against the category page they were meant to support. Outreach kept adding Brazilian prospects so the merchandising calendar had room to move.

What moved

Referrals from pages Brazilians already read

Across five months, referral sessions from Brazilian publishers reached 4,800. Organic visibility on the target category cluster rose 31 percent. The mix of live URLs, by publisher type, is in the sheet. We did not count directory links or translated leftovers toward the monthly target.

The catalogue still has to convert. Publisher citations do not replace merchandising. What changed is that Brazilian searchers started to meet the brand on pages written in the language they shop in, on domains they already trust for that job.

Client note

Portuguese from the first draft was the difference. The translated Spanish pieces never got past the editors.
